SUPPORT THE ELDERS

What we do?

Providing mental satisfaction to Elders marginalised in Elders homes Due to globalization of economy Sri Lankan citizens entered
into so called fast-rat-race and the children becoming busier
than their parents engaged in their educational and
technological studies.
As a result of which they are losing their social obligations in
both aspects mainly looking after the parents when they
become old which is a strong cultural devaluation according to
the Sri Lankan culture.
Since we are still unable to enter in to the development circle
compare with western countries and compelled to maintain our
social obligations but it should be inculcated to our younger
generation of this responsibility before leaving it in to the
society at large.

Symptoms identified.

Thousands of Elders’ Homes mushrooming in the island are not on par with that of the western world. They are provided with basic
food, medicine, logging, cleaning, bathing etc. Children are unaware
about the obligations ahead of them when they step in to the society since they are not getting proper association with their
parents from their younger stages. While female employment is
increasing in the country; children are lacking the mothers love
and affection they need, when compared with the same we had
two decades or so in the past.
